KeymasterHope you are all safe and well.
None of us can facilitate face-to-face ABC workshops at the moment. However, many institutions wish to continue to use ABC learning design method with their colleagues. We have collected some ideas for online versions at https://abc-ld.org/online-abc-ld/. In this webinar the speakers have kindly offered to share their own experiences of running live online ABC workshops. We hope you can join us.
Webinar will take place on 27th May at 12pm, London time. This webinar will be recorded and the recording will be linked to our ABC to VLE project website. The link for this webinar will be shared with registered attendees via Eventbrite email. If you are thinking of online ABC LD, please join us for a chat.

ParticipantJust watched the recording the the webinar- I wasn’t able to attend live as I was prepping my own online ABC workshop that I led yesterday afternoon ( at City of Glasgow College, Scotland)! Here is a link to the slidedeck I used and embedded within it are the links to the sheet and doc used by participants in the workshop. I went for Zoom breakout rooms, and google sheets and docs. We use Moodle, so Moodle features heavily in the menu of tools which are featured. I would be very keen to share and discuss our work with ABC Learning Design online workshops at our college in chat or on a future webinar.

KeymasterThat is great Fiona, it would be good to learn more about it. We should talk soon. This week we are pretty busy with ABC to VLE transnational (online) meeting and finalising this Erasmus+ project.

KeymasterOn behalf of ABC LD team I would like to share the link for the recording of last Friday’s webinar: Running ABC Learning Design Online
and to announce our next webinar: The ABC Learning Design Toolkit, Friday 5th June, 12:00 London time.
To mark the completion of our Erasmus+ ABC to VLE project, we will hold a series of webinars to share the outputs of the project. Join us to learn how 13 universities worked together to evaluate and localise ABC LD.
First webinar in the series: The ABC Learning Design Toolkit on Friday 5th June, 12:00 London time. Registration via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/webinar-the-abc-learning-design-toolkit-tickets-106784818266
More information:
Over the last two years UCL has led an Erasmus project to develop and evaluate ABC with 12 partners (https://abc-ld.org). We have focused on localisation to institutional contexts and have explored the important link between storyboard designs and the VLE. The main output, available soon, will be a freely downloadable Toolkit of resources and guides, enabling any college or university to adapt and adopt the method.
Although developed to promote blended learning, during the COVID emergency, some institutions have now modified ABC to run remotely and to support their need to support a rapid transition to online learning. ABC is proving an effective tool in this new format, too.
In this webinar, Clive Young and Nataša Perović, who originally developed ABC, will discuss the spread of ABC, its variants, the Toolkit, why it seems to work and its potential to meet COVID challenges. We hope you can join us and bring your questions.

KeymasterWebinar 2: ABC to VLE, Designs to Implementation
Friday 12 June 2020 – 12:00-13:00 (BST) – ABC Designs to (VLE)
How do we go from ABC to VLE? What happens with the ABC LD designs? What support and what tools are available?
Early evaluation of ABC showed that although the workshop format is engaging and productive, what happens after the workshop is equally important. The Erasmus+ ‘ABC to VLE’ project wanted to find out what happens with ABC learning designs. How are these ‘translated’ into real activities in Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas and other VLEs? What support and what tools are available? How do we connect the ABC pedagogy with the technology available in the institution? To find some of our answers join us for this webinar.
Presenters:
- Mark Glynn & Clare Gormley, DCU, Dublin, Ireland
- Lies Demeulenaere & Sylke Vandercruysse, VIVES, Bruges, Belgium
- Svend Tveden-Nyborg, Absalon, Zealand, Denmark
The link for this webinar will be shared with registered attendees via Eventbrite email. This webinar will be recorded and the recording will be linked to our ABC to VLE project website (https://abc-ld.org).
